Specializing in outpatient orthopedic physical therapy, Inniss Physical Therapy has been owned and operated by Bruce and Leah Inniss since its opening in 1985.



Bruce B. Inniss Physical Therapist

Bruce B. Inniss, P.T., O.C.S.  Born and raised in San Diego, Bruce graduated from San Diego State University in 1977 with high honors and distinction in his major of physical education.  He attended the University of Southern California (USC) and earned his Master’s of Physical Therapy from 1977-1979.  He became licensed as a physical therapist in February 1980.  Since that time, Bruce has worked exclusively in outpatient physical therapy practices.  He was the director of Physical Therapy for the San Diego Sports Medicine Center from November, 1981 through 1985.  In 1985, Bruce and his wife Leah started Inniss Physical Therapy.  Bruce has extensive course work on a variety of orthopedic physical therapy topics including joint mobilization, muscle energy techniques, MET, cranio-sacral, shoulder, foot and ankle rehabilitation.  Bruce first obtained the Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy in 1996.  He has re-certified as a Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy in 2005 and again in 2016.



Leah A. Inniss Physical Therapist

Leah Inniss specializes in orthopedic physical therapy and has worked for more than 30 years in an outpatient orthopedic setting. Leah graduated from Stanford University before receiving her Master's Degree from University of Southern California.  In 1985, Leah and her husband Bruce started Inniss Physical Therapy.  Leah has taken numerous continuing education courses in joint mobilization, evaluation and treatment of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, shoulder and ankle joints as well as the cranio-sacral region.





 Darlene Schaeffer PT, DPT, CSCS

Darlene is a San Diego native and loves outdoor activities.  She received her Doctor of Physical Therapy from USC in 2003.  She became a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association in 2002. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association.  She received her Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science with emphasis in Physiology and a minor in Nutrition Science with emphasis in biochemistry from UC Davis. 

Specialties: Sports Medicine/Sports related Injuries, Orthopedics, Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction, Geriatrics, Visceral manipulation, neurological rehabilitation, and Vertigo/balance disorders



Colette Wall BSc, PT

Colette graduated from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada in 2000 with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Physical Therapy.  Following graduation, she worked primarily with sports and complex Worker’s Compensation injuries, including work site hardening and employee injury prevention training.  She was also a board member for the Canadian Orthopedic Division Executive.

Colette moved to San Diego in 2004 where she began working at Inniss Physical Therapy. She works primarily with orthopedic injuries and has attended numerous continuing education courses in manual therapy, shoulder rehabilitation and vestibular and balance training. Colette is married and has two children.  She is a certified Les Mills BodyPump, BodyFlow and CXWORX instructor.  In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, teaching group fitness classes, and enjoying the California sun. 


Ashton B. Inniss Office Manager, JD, Esq

Ashton manages the business side of the physical therapy practice including insurance and billing, among various administrative tasks. He graduated from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles after earning his BA from UC Santa Barbara. When not seated upon an exercise ball in front of the computer, Ashton enjoys various human and wave powered outdoor activities. 




Jason Taresh PT Aide, BS

Jason is a graduate of San Diego State University with a degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Physical Therapy. Originally from Chico, California, Jason has recently applied for his Doctorate of Physical Therapy and is waiting to determine which institution shall be fortunate enough to have him.  His passion for health and wellness extends into his active lifestyle which includes personal training with his friends, golfing, and long boarding with his Siberian husky.





Emily Elandt PT Aide, BS 

Emily recently earned her Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Pre-Physical Therapy from San Diego State University.  She was born and raised in the East Bay Area.  She plans to continue her education and obtain a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, in the near future.  She hopes to later specialize in neurological and orthopedic disorders.
